“In creating a new beer for a new partnership, I wanted something fresh for the market that is saturated in Hazy IPA. I wanted something crisp and refreshing like our mountain air, yet still having a big flavor character. That's why we went with a cold IPA, The crispest and most refreshing of IPAs. So to create this beer, we used Pilsner malt to make up the majority of the grain. Pilsner malt is very clean and can lend some light malt flavors. We added Carapils to help add some proteins for excellent head retention. Lastly flaked corn to add a touch of sweetness to help balance the hop bitterness but still keep the beer very dry and crisp. On the hop front we used some heavy hitters on flavor. Magnum was used for a clean and mellow, yet assertive bitterness. Comet for a nice citrus and dank flavor. Idaho-7 for a bit of fruitiness. But Bru-1 is the star with flavors of pineapple, citrus, and some dank herb. Then we dry hopped with a hop concentrate product as well as pellets to take the aroma to the next level and provide more flavor stability. This beer should appeal to the hop heads as well as the casual craft drinker looking for big flavors, but without the tongue melting bitterness. And the crispness will keep you coming back for more.”
