The world doesn’t run on beer and money alone. Although they are our two most powerful commodities, there is a third: favors. We have a kindness economy in our community. We do things for others and store up deposits in others' favors accounts. In turn, our fellows repay with favors of other kinds! We know that to grow in who we are, it takes more than ourselves, so we give to others knowing others in turn will enrich us! This view is what inspired the creation of our new dry-hopped sour. We took the Berliner-Weisse base of our GABF Silver Medal winner for Wood or Barrel Aged, the Avant Chard, and dry-hopped with a generous portion of Azacca and Lemondrop hops. With pineapple and lemon zest aromas, this tart beer carries juicy notes of citrus and tropical fruits followed by a refreshingly clean finish. This beer is a thank you for all the favors our family, friends and fans have given us.
It is common knowledge that in the world today, a beard is a true mark of manhood. It is not the ability to change a tire, or hold down a job, or anything trivial like that. That’s yesterday’s man. Now, that fuzzy chin curtain is your passport to awesomeness. We all know it. Men and women alike find themselves helpless in the presence of a good beard. Let’s face it, beards make everything better. In honor of the ol’ flavor savers out there, we would like to dedicate this beast of brew to those beautiful men and their well-groomed beards who most likely have manly names like Herkules, Polaris and Merkur, which just so happen to be the hop varieties we used in this beautifully balanced Black IPA. Coincidence? I think not. So raise this glass in lusty admiration of the mark of true manhood, the beard.
Like you mom, our Bear Arms gets better with time. This year as our rich, robust Russian Imperial Stout, Bear Arms will embrace you with warmth throughout the winter season. Notes of roasted coffee and chocolate will compel you to cuddle up and relax by the fire, grab a slice of chocolate cake, and call it a day.
Surprise! We made a Pumpkin Piehole Porter. In our defense, it's delicious. We're not gonna say we've reinvented the wheel or anything, because you've probably had a pumpkin spiced ale before. Or maybe you haven't. If you haven't, then... this is the first one ever brewed! The roasty malt backbone you know and love balanced with a spooky-scary blend of seasonal spices evoking pumpkin pies of falls past.
You want to know where everything was produced. We get it, we’re all about that. Was this chicken given the right to pick its gender? Did this orris root grow in culturally diverse soil? It matters to us, and it should matter to you. Our golden ale is the cream of the crop. Given every opportunity to be the beer, or not beer, it wanted to be. It felt that being 'dry hopped' with fresh lemongrass and joined with lemon-zest for a citrus splash was the honest way to live its life, until its ultimate end in your belly. What a surprise, that a creation picking its own destiny would become such a beautiful expression of life?
It’s that time of year again when the days begin to get longer and the nights shorter. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming and the seeds of love are all around… the kind of passionate, painfully heartbreaking love that is so intense you will one day wish you could erase it from your every memory. Yeah, we saw the movie.
In celebration of the Spring Equinox and all the yucky love stuff, we proudly produced this beauty of a beer – The Eternal Sunshine of the Session IPA, dry hopped with copious amounts of Equinox hops and an intoxicating aroma. Just like Springtime, this beauty of a beer is bursting with citrusy, tropical freshness with a hint of guava and grapefruit on the finish. After experiencing such perfection, the only words left to say are “Meet me in Montauk.”
We frickin love the shit out of Santa Claus! And he and Mrs. Claus (his main Ho!) love the shit out of this beer. An old spin on our very first Holiday brew, this strong ale is brewed with fresh ground ginger and savory cinnamon. A smooth and nutty malt character holds up this beer just like Santa’s belt hold up his pants. Warming and delightful like a sunny beech full of Ho’s, you are sure to be kept warm even if it snows
Our annual release for the Arizona Strong Beer Festival, this big bear of a brew is back with a new twist. The 2016 version is a ruthless Imperial Red brewed with raspberries, rose hips and lavender for the lovers. Cuddling. We like that shit.
You may know by now that we make Everyday Special. Our prized Pils Lager (EDS) that beer lovers have come to love now has a sibling. HBC is proud to release our EveryNight Special Black Pils. Inspired by the traditional Schwarzbier Black Lagers of Germany, this well balanced and quaffable brew was born. Utilizing the finest German Pilsner malt at heart, we carefully selected a variety of bitterless dark malts to lock in a velvety like body with subtle chocolate flavors that taste ooooooh so smooth. Backed up by an assertive hop profile and fermented with our house Lager strain, we then lagered (cold conditioned) this black beauty for five weeks. The perfect delight for every night! The Everynight Special.
Life is full of choices. And when summertime comes rollin' in, you must face the most critical decision of the season. How short will you sport the short shorts? And what beer embraces this summertime phenomenon? Studies have concluded that Short Shorts Session IPA is the hop pleasing quencher that activates specific neurons in the human brain that exude a sense of awesomeness, thus resulting in massive high thigh exposure. It's science folks.
Ok, enough with all the technical sciencey stuff. This well-balanced light IPA was brewed with Apollo and Australian Orbit hops to lend a very tropical, bubblegum and slight peppery aroma that is unlike anything you have ever experienced in a beer. Man or woman, we say keep on drinking and rockin' the shorty shorts exposing all the glory of those beautiful thighs. We salute the Short Shorts!
It's that time of the year once again. The air begins to thin. Temperatures gradually slip into “nippin” mode and for some, it's perfect timing to bare it all...or brew it all. We did both and brewed this beer naked, exposing the nooks and crannies for all to enjoy. Inspired by our incredibly badass team member Eva Rupert, we continue to push the boundaries of what is acceptable by exposing our bare beauty and talents. This inspiration led to a wonderfully warming Cranberry Spiced Ale with nutmeg and allspice. Toasty, Malty and ooh soo revealing, it will surely warm your Nooks and Crannies!
This bold Porter was made for those coffee lovers out there. And here in Flagstaff, AZ, our locals love their coffee! We made this one in collaboration with our friends at Single Speed Coffee Roasters in Williams, AZ. They specially roasted a new variety of coffee bean for us and then little by little, we added Sumantra and Colombian cold brewed coffee beans. Pairs well with toast, eggs and bacon (what doesn’t pair well with bacon!) ♪ The best part of waking up, is Single Speed Coffee Porter in your cup ♪
What the FUNK is this?? A cocnut Dunkelweizen? Yup, we did that. The German Dunkelweizen at heart boasts all of the toasty banana and clove character you would come to expect but with a “Coconut Twist”. That’s the new dance you will be bustin’ out when you sip on this tropical(ish) classic. We painstakingly toasted 10lbs of coconut per barrel (1 barrel = 31 gallons) and introduced it to this German classic post fermentation. Summertime never comes too early. It’s time to celebrate the season and Funkin’ GONUTS!
What a joy to behold! A large portion of rye malt provides a spicy malt profile that backs up the highly aggressive hop aroma and flavor. Now brewed and dry hopped with copious amounts of Chinook, Cascade and Columbus hops, Joy Rye'd is the big rebel in our craft beer lineup. With it's big aroma and flavor, the Joy Rye'd will start a rough and tumble with your tastebuds and leave you thirsty for more. Let the devil out and stir some shit up. Have a Joy Rye'd!
